Welcome.

The Latino Migrations, Rural Transformations and Development project is a multi-sited, multi-method research initiative that seeks to understand how economic globalization and migration has impacted the realities of rural life in both Mexico and the U.S. South.  It is an ongoing project that focuses on combining research, education and community engagement activities in order to answer key questions about the transformations in rural regions as a result of increased Latino migration linked to larger global processes, including agrarian restructuring.  The project is supported by an NSF Early CAREER Award titled “Rural Transformation and Latino Transnational Migration and the Settlement in the U.S. South,”(Award #0547725) among other university and external grants for different components of the initiative. This website serves as a guide to the project’s research, community engagement and education activities.
